Three Days At Gettysburg

Today marks the 137th anniversary of one of the most famous and infamous battles to ever take place in our country. It was during one of the most difficult and desperate times of our country’s history, and the impact is still be debated and felt today. Today’s FamSite looks at that battle in it’s historical content.

The site is called Three Days at Gettysburg, and is, without a doubt, one of the best sites about this most famous battle of the War Between the States. It took place from July 1st to July 3rd, 1863, involved over 150,000 soldiers, and resulted in over 50,000 casualties. This site explores each day of the battle with links to sites that highlight that days key events. Using diaries, pictures, and Shockwave technology, the lesson of what this battle represented to both sides is well represented. The aftermath of the battle is explored, including the formation of the battlefield memorial, and the speech that “�the world will little note nor long remember�” given by President Abraham Lincoln.
