U.S. Kids Compute!

When I was going through school, the most technical item I had to learn to use was a slide rule. Today’s school children have far more imposing technological challenges facing them, such as learning to use computers. Today’s FamSite tells about a program that can make learning to use one fun and exciting.

Called the U.S. Kids Compute! Computer Literacy Campaign, it is a collaboration of the Learning Company and First Book to give away over 10,000 CD-ROMs in over 200 communities’ nation wide. Children are encouraged to participate by playing challenging educational games that increase their ability, while earning points towards acquiring software that will be donated to disadvantaged children. The software will be awarded on the birthday of Dr. Suess, as a gift in his memory.
