Iz and Auggie Go To The Polls

Learning to use the Internet can be difficult for children. Learning to use the Internet for research and other useful purposes can be even more difficult. But today’s FamSite is one that combines the fun of learning to use cyberspace with the fun of playing there as well.

Called Iz and Auggie Go To The Polls, this site has as its mission to teach fourth through eighth graders how to use the Internet in a useful way. This series of stories (called Derbies) consist of seven individual episodes per story. Each episode ends with a puzzle, which the student is directed to the World Wide Web to solve. The stories involve subjects that interest students, such as science, history, and ecology, among others. This site is a proven Internet teaching tool, a research learning adventure, and a collaborative learning resource. In short, it is a great place to bookmark and return to.
