Those words conjure up memories of the Disney film “Toy Story”, the first in a new generation of film technology. Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Mr. Potato Head, and all the characters that were created to make this a fun and entertaining film. But how was all that magic created?
Today’s Family Site is a visit to the company that brought that magic to the screen, Pixar Animation Studios. Here a visitor can see how all the parts came together to make this movie. But there is more to this studio than just this one film. For example, did you know Pixar’s first film in 1986, “Luxo, Jr.”, won the Academy Award for Best Short Film (Animated). In 1988, they won the same award, on this time it was for a 100% computer animated film. In all, the artists, technicians, and other employees have won 15 of the golden statues. This is a chance to visit a place that is on the cutting edge of technology, one that will be around for years, and undoubtedly shape the future of filmmaking.
Enjoy this stop on the cyber highway. Here is an example of what our children have to look forward to, when it comes time to decide what they want to do as an occupation. Technology has created many, many opportunities for employment in the work force. Early understanding of that technology will help our young ones later in life.
