Wonders of the African World
The continent of Africa has long been known as the Dark Continent. That was because it was so large, and relatively unexplored until the last century. But thanks to the marvels of modern technology, it is now one of the most culturally rewarding places to visit, both in person and on the Internet.
Today’s FamSite is called Wonders of the African World, and is the result of Henry Louis Gates’ journey across to explore the wealth of African history and culture in Wonders of the African World. It is being featured on Public Broadcasting as a six episode series. They highlight such areas as the Nile kingdoms, the Holy Land, and the Road to Timbuktu (my mother often said I should take a hike up that road someday). Each section of the site highlights one of the episodes.
