Annie Oakley Foundation

I was in one of my local video stores over the weekend (with half the world it seemed), and was checking out the latest movies and DVDs. I was surprised to find one I had not remembered seeing before. A little research told me that not only had this film not been on video before, it hadn’t even been seen on television since 1973. The film is called “Annie Get Your Gun”, and the subject of the film is also the subject of today’s FamSite.

Called the Annie Oakley Foundation, this site is a well-designed salute to one of the icons of the American West. Mention her name and you instantly conjure up an image of a female sharpshooter who was a contemporary of Buffalo Bill, Wyatt Earp, and Wild Bill Hickock. Here you will find out about the true person, see pictures, films, some of the tall tales that have surrounded her for years, as well as the truth to those legends. There is information about movies, books, and television shows about her, as well as links to other interesting web sites.
