National Association of Amateur Elvis Impersonators

I heard on the radio this morning that Elvis Presley would have been 63 on his next birthday (or will be 63, depending on your spin on things). But the impact he had and is still having on the entertainment world today is unparalleled, and shows no sign of letting up.

With that in mind, we use today’s Family Site to salute a group that is promoting not only the music of Elvis, but also the Elvis persona, the charisma, the charm that was the man and his life. The group is called the National Association of Amateur Elvis Impersonators, and their site is a very appropriate place for us to visit at this time of year. Here you will find the cream of the crop of impersonators, from The Flying Elvi to the BBQ Elvis, to WorldWide Elvis. There are sound clips available to see how they compare to the real King, as well as an are for collectibles, an Impersonator of the Month, and a Brush with Elvis (a.k.a. an Elvis sighting). There is a lot of fun to be had at this site, but bottom line, these are professional entertainers, and they are very good at what they do. The pride they have in their work really shows here.

Elvis is still with us today. He has a presence on the Internet that truly reflects his status as the King. His influence touches us daily, in a way we take for granted. Do you think I’m kidding? If his influence isn’t so great, then why do we call it “E”-mail….?
