“Be a Famous Writer” Kids’ Writing Contest a Great Class Project
What better way to get back into the swing of school than to offer a story writing contest for kids? Especially if they can win free supplies for their classrooms!
In the 3rd annual “Be a Famous Writer Contest,” kids ages 4-13 can submit their 250-1,000 word fiction or non-fiction stories from September 1st to October 15th.
The contest is sponsored by www.mrsp.com, the award-winning kids’ entertainment site founded by actress Kathy Kinney along with Dana Plautz and Clay Graham. Kinney is best known for her role as Mimi Bobeck on “The Drew Carey Show.”
This year’s contest is co-sponsored by Mrs. P, Sakura of America, the art supply company that invented Cray-Pas® and Powell’s Books, the world’s largest independent book seller.
Judges this year include Bonny Becker, best-selling author of the Bear and Mouse picture books, including “A Visitor for Bear” winner of the E.B. White Read Aloud Award; David L. Ulin, book critic of the Los Angeles Times and author, most recently, of “The Lost Art of Reading: Why Books Matter in a Distracted Time”; and Renèe Watson, author, educator and poet, her book “What Momma Left Me” debuted as the New Voice for 2010 in middle grade fiction by The Independent Children’s Booksellers Association.
