Getting Your Husband To Help Around House Chores

The division in “household labor” is quite non-existent in most busy homes nowadays, it is an undeniable fact that most often than not, it is the wife that gets the most tasks in social outings, house works, and taking care of the kids. After some time, many women learned to become more resentful, especially if they get a day job, making housework the “second shift.”
Problems like this cause trouble inside the house, some even go to marriage meltdown. Thus, it is crucial to make an action plan not just to motivate your husband to help around, but more importantly, to make a balanced and peaceful home moving forward.
Find out The Things Needs To Be Done
From taking care of the trash to the laundry, make a list of the household chores you want you and your partner to help. Assign the tasks and make sure your husband understand his part.
Some of the tasks you can assign to your husband are:
- Getting the grocery and other sundry store visits.
- Bill payment and sorting
- Gardening, yard work and front and backyard maintenance
- Getting kids to school, extracurricular activities, medical visits, etc.
- Pet care, grooming and feeding your pet, visiting the vet, etc.
Define Tasks From Easy, Moderate and Difficult
Put a rating on each task by considering the time needed to finish them, how strenuous they are and how often they should be done. For example, cleaning the house floors may be considered ‘moderately difficult,’ it could be done in a lot of ways, from mopping, sweeping, waxing, etc.
When writing the list, consider the things that will make the tasks easier. In the case of floor cleaning, you can use better detergent and a vacuum cleaner for a faster and more efficient cleaning. This can be an excellent task to assign to your partner.
