National Cartoonist’s Day

One of the most popular parts of the newspaper (whether we admit it or not) is the comic strips. In my local paper, they are all featured on two pages together, in others they are spread around. But they are still popular to read. There is a lot of work and effort that goes into creating that 3- or 4- picture strip. Today’s FamSite looks at one such strip today, a day known as Cartoonist’s Day.

Gilchrist Studios Online is the home to the popular comic strip Mudpie. At this site you can view a special series of strips dedicated to Cartoonist’s Day. This day is the day that recognizes the value of humor in our lives, and the people who create the cartoons that help to put that humor there. The Mudpie strip looks at some of the history of cartoons, such as when the first comic strip was created. It is a very funny and charming strip.

So stop by and enjoy some good family friendly humor. And be sure to mark May 27th on your calendar as well. That is the day that cartoonists everywhere will be celebrating and saluting the work of the late Charles Schulz. That promises to be a very exciting day in the history of comic strips.
