President Chester A. Arthur
The presidents of our country are all unique individuals, elected to lead us during trying and difficult times, some more difficult and trying than others.
Today we stop at a site that is about a one-term president. His name is Chester Alan Arthur, and he became president upon the death of James Garfield. He served during an interesting time in our country, the westward expansion of the 1880’s. He was also the president that dedicated one of our most famous national landmarks in the nation’s capitol, the Washington Monument in 1885.
