Ron Kurer’s Toon Tracker

Growing up, I spent time watching cartoon. Lots of cartoons. Maybe too many cartoons by today’s standards, but for a small Oregon logging town with one channel of television, the choices were already pretty limited. But one program I remember was a science fiction serial called Space Angel. It was crude by today’s standards, but still entertaining for a boy of eight.

Recently I tried to find out a little more about that program, it’s origins, cast voices, plots, etc. I had no luck whatsoever, until I came across today’s site. It is called Ron Kurer’s Toon Tracker, and it contains information on obscure and obsolete cartoon series. I guess Space Angel was one, because there it was, big as life. This site is dedicated to the enjoyment of animated programs, and, bringing back memories for old-timers like me. Here you can visit with Mighty Mouse, Tom Terrific, Clutch Cargo, Beanie and Cecil (the Seasick Sea Serpent), and Hoppity Hooper to name a few. There is information and links on each of the series, as well as a photo archive and sound/theme clips available for downloading. They have recently added a Real Audio page so you can hear the theme songs from the 50’s and 60’s shows.

For little trip down nostalgia alley, this site is a great stopping place. I spent almost 2 hours here the first time I visited. I only wish I could have spent longer.
