The American President

Today marks the first working day of the new administration in our country. Over the past 18 months, Family Site of the Day has visited individual sites that explored the men who have held this office. But we never really explored the office itself. Over the next few days we will explore some sites that show what it is to be the elected leader of our country.

Today’s site is one called The American President, a site featured by Public Broadcasting. This site tells about the first series to ever chronicle all of the Presidents of the United States. But instead of doing it in chronological order, it is groups them in a way that shows how different leaders dealt with similar situation. Or it ties them together by a particular theme, such a family ties. One interesting part of this site is the War Room Game, an interactive contest that allows visitors to run their own campaign. There are also lesson plans for teachers and educators who want to use this series as a classroom-teaching tool.
