Boys and Girls Club of America

There is an organization that has been around for many, many years that has been a positive influence on more children than you can shake a stick at. My children have belonged to it, and my youngest daughter loves to go there after school and hang out with her friends. I am talking about an icon of American culture, the Boys and Girls Club of America.

At this site, information can be found about the BGCA, and it’s origins. It is possible to visit web sites from all over the country that have been created by the boys and girls themselves, as well as links to several clubs around the country. Hear and/or see a message from Denzel Washington telling about the value of the club. There is a listing of clubs and membership information.

In this day and age, a club like this is a very positive place for children of all ages to have the option of going to. Check out this site, and then check out the one closest to your home.

  11. Hi, I�m in high school still and I�m working on what I want to do when I finish school. In my town I think we need a place like Boys and Girls Club that I can start here. I just need to know how many years I need of college to keep a good footing on this. I have a big heart and always wanted to start something to help kids. We have the YMCA but I think we need something more then that. In Smithton I went to Boys and Girls Club and loved it.     I am a junior in college. I have been working with the Boys and Girls Club in Wake County for four years. I am doing a project on possible problems that are concerns in certain organizations. From reading the comments above I can see that a large issue with the Boys and Girls Club is that there are not enough organization locations. I would like to know what would have to be done to help the people who want to start one in their community do so. I would also like to know what would be a good field to major in if i am interested in starting another Boys and Girls Club in my community that I feel really needs it. Thanks in advance, Eddrena.

    I would like information on how to start a Boys and Girls Club in my community. There is an great need to give children and teens something to do to help keep them out of trouble. I grew up in a boys club, where I hung out during the summer playing sports and many other activities. All at no cost to a low income Family.
    The YMCA was once affordable. They are way out of reach for low and some mid income families. I would like to cater to these families so their children can join in the activities offered by a boys and girls club.
