It is Space Day. What is Space Day, you ask. Well, I’m glad you did. It is an annual event to celebrate space exploration, not just in the United States, but the entire world. It is a day to celebrate the contributions of medicine, science, and everyday life have made to the exploration of our universe. The date chosen is the day that President Kennedy committed our country, “..to achieve the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth.”

Here you can visit the different events and celebrations in Washington D.C. See the unveiling of a statue of an astronaut. Visit the premier of the new Imax film, “Mission to Mir”. There is also a schedule of events taking place in schools, as well as a special teachers area.

This site is active 365 days a year, so bookmark it and come back often. It will be worth the trip.
