Ken Burns is a filmmaker with vision. Over the past several years, he has managed to reshape the documentary film as a means of communication and education. He has done films on the Civil War, baseball, and the Old West. Each was unique and memorable in it’s own way.
His latest film is about the life of Thomas Jefferson, the 3rd President of the United States. He was also a noted architect, not only of buildings, but of the freedom of our country. He was the author of the Declaration of Independence (along with others). But Jefferson was also a complex and private person. In this film, Mr. Burns has managed to capture both the public and private person, and capture it well. This site is a prime example of how the Internet can be used to promote education and communication at the same time.
