Turner Classic Movies Website

Anyone who knows me, knows of my passion for old Hollywood movies. The older the better, and silent films are great to watch. And they don’t necessarily have to be classics. Needless to say, when today’s website made its debut, it was a very good day at our house.

The site I am referring to is the Turner Classic Movies Website. It is the official site of this cable TV channel, and it a pure delight to visit. Here you can find out not only the schedule for the coming weeks, but also check out and see what is currently on. I don’t mean just check the channel listing, but actually grabbing a live frame from the live broadcast. There are information on the TCM/Rhino Records classic movie soundtrack series, which features actual music from classic MGM films such as “Gone with the Wind”, and “The Wizard of OZ”. But to me, the highlight of the site is the extensive list of links for not only movie sites, but also for television, sites around Atlanta, as well as an interesting collection of miscellaneous sites. I have never seen a collection of cinematic links anywhere else on the net.

So if your cable company carries TCM, then check this page out to complement your viewing of it. If you don’t have access to this channel, check out this site, and then start bugging your viewing host to carry it. It will be worth the challenge.

  1. You guys had a great idea with the all movie channel. Why do you want to screw it up with that scrunched down screen?
    I bought a big screen tv so I could get a bigger picture. With this so called wide screen I’m losing 25% of the picture at both the top and bottom of the screen!!!
    Please reconsider and drop the letterbox format.

  3. My family have enjoyed TCM on sky in the UK for two years but when we wanted to watch a movie tonight we were very disappointed to find that SKY are now charging for TCM movies. We are not going to be blackmailed into paying and extra �19 a month so it seems we are denied the pleasure of TCM for all time.

  12. I would like to ask Robert Osborne if he has ever heard of the movie “Speed Spook” which was made in the 1920’s. A friend told me that it is a “classic” now and I found a write-up online. If there is a reel out there somewhere, I would love to see the movie. My father was in it, maybe as the trick rider in the driverless car, though he told me he rode motorcycles (Indians) in the movies he was in. Others were “Lillies of the Street” and “Over the Top”..all in the 20’s. Thanks !!!!!

  16. I have a question for Robert Osborne.It started about 15 years ago watching TCM movies.I watched a Black/White movie and I do not know the name.I have never seen it again on TCM. There was a lady with a husband and she had a daughter. The ex-con ex love came back and went to see her unwelcomedly. There was an accident by the ex con lover with the daughter.The husband took the daughter and left. The mom did jobs as a clown. Then finally was a clown at her daughters party. She moved in while the husband was away.At the end of the movie the father returned and found out. Please help what is the name of this movie? Is there a way to get a copy. My 15 year search continues. Thank You

  18. I am looking for an old horror movie about a guy that was chained to a wheel on a train, and removes the wheel and jumps into a river, then chops his arm off to free himself. What is this movie? I don’t remember the dark haired actors’ name, but I have seen him in several movies.

  27. I’ve seen one or two Judy Canova films on TCM and was delighted again. I miss the Hoosier Hotshots, but recently discovered the Kay Kyser films and will try to catch them again whenever they get shown.

  35. As of Dec. 21 Time Warner Cable changed the lineup. They replaced Turner Classic Movies with Golf. Despite my calls they didn’t give a blank. The rep said it was Turner’s decision to go Digital and we can pay more and get it. No way! Cable is too expensive as it is. Greed rears its ugly head! Pissed beyond belief!

  39. I challenge you to find and show an old movie called “The Adventures Of Hajji Baba” a movie put out by Allied Artist/Walter Wanger in 1954. It stared John Derek as Hajji Baba and Elaine Stewart as the princess. Movie Theme song was sung by a well known male artist, Nat King Cole. I challenge you to find and play this very enjoyable adventure movie.

  40. I have a Godfather question that has plagued me for years and no one can seem to answer it. I was wondering if Bob Osborne can take a crack at it, unfortunately, I don’t know his email or how to get in touch with him.
    I have asked many Godfather aficionados, I have written to authors and sent emails to movie “experts” but unfortunately no one can answer my question. (Including Leonard Maltin and the Bravo Channel)
    Here’s the Scene: In Godfather: In the scene, just before Michael leaves to kill Sollozzo and police captain McCluskey, the family is in the Corelone home eating Chinese food and trying to determine where Michael will have this meeting.
    At this get together, there are 6 people in the room: Michael, Sonny, Tom, Clemenza, Tessio and a sixth unidentified person wearing a brown suit. This mystery man has only 7seconds of “on-air” time and is the only person that does not have any dialogue in the scene.
    QUESTION: Who is he?
    Remember only the top “family” members are there (or would be there) as they are discussing a major “hit” and killing a police captain. This “hit” involves a Corelone family member so only the main insiders would be present. Even Freddo (a Corelone) is not there. So you have the 3 brothers, the 2 Capos and 1 mystery person. Who is he and why would anyone outside of this elite group be there?
    Some have guessed that perhaps he is Michael’s driver or Rocco, or another of Clemenza’s men but that doesn’t make sense. Why would anyone except the very top “family” members be present at this family get together and be present at such a meeting that really is Michael’s baptism into the family business? Remember Vito’s response when Tom wants to give his new son-in-law an important position in the “family”. Anyone outside of a select group would an outsider and they would not trust anyone into their inner circle. Obviously it must to be an important character.
    Can you please find out who this mystery person is? Who is this character? (he is no where else in the movie, not even at the wedding) and who is the actor that played his part? -OR- was this an editor’s mistake?
    This is a great question if you can answer it.

  48. Please add Closed Captioning to your descriptions of the movies. That can be more interesting than the movie itself.
    I am desparate because of a loss of hearing. The words save my life.

    I have been a fan of TCM since the Channel came into existance as I love watching the old classics.
    The reason I am writting is to request that you work to interview one of my favorite actors Mr. Harry Morgan of stage, screen and television. It seems that this man has been in movies with most of the movie stars and has got to have many interesting stories about the many actors with whom he worked. Since he is getting up-there in age, I would like to see you do this as soon as possible.

    I am looking for a movie I saw somewhere between 1945 and about 1955 I think. I believe it starred Joan Fontaine and Tom Drake. Mr. Drake was in the army during WWII and Joan Fontaine was his girlfriend. She became pregnant with his child after he went overseas and that’s all I remember about the movie except that the song that played all thru the movie was “To Each His Own” – I know there is a movie with that title starring Olivia OHaviland but that’s not the one I remember – I have been looking for over 60 years and still can’t find it – hope I am right about this – it was a black and white movie.. Thank You

  57. Why haven’t you showed and Jeff Chandler’s movies? Also,there is movie called “Casbah”, not the one with Bogart, but the one with Tony Martin, Peter Lorre and Maria Toren. How come that movie is never shown on TCM. The last time I saw it on TV was back in the eighties. Is there problem with legal rights or what?

  60. In the movie Sandpipers Eve St Marie makes a glaring mistake. When Elizabeth Taylor’s son is reading The Prologue to The Canterbury Tales , his teacher, St Marie, loudly exclaims with pride and delight that the young boy can read it in “old English”. Not so as it was written in Middle English. This is a common mistake in the USA as we don’t speak English old or middle. We speak American and not very well. However, I would think that Richard Burton would have known this since as the headmaster the words are spoken to him Am u the only person who has ever noticed this? I would welcome a comment.

  62. Dear TMC and Robert Osborne! I am an avid viewer of TCM ! I saw a movie years ago starring Glenn Ford circa I believe in early 60’s about a man(Glenn) who was bitten by a rabbid dog! Unfortunately, I do not remember the name of the title? I think it was filmed near the Mexican border? Do you remember this movie and its title and can you show it on TCM? Also, please show some Dale Robertson films too as I haven’t seen one in quite some time! Thanks!

  63. I would like to request you to show a movie from 1954, called The Million Pound Note, also known as Man with a Million. starring Gregory Peck, based on a story by Mark Twain. If this film is available for showing on your television network, could you inform me as to the date and time it would be played. My husband and I watch TCM more than any other channel.
