The New Times Square

Well, here it is, New Year’s Eve, 1998. The next-to-the-last one that starts with the number 19. This time next year we will all be wondering about the start of a new millennium, as well as the dreaded and much hyped Y2K bug. But that will be then, this is now. So let’s head on over to the granddaddy of New Year celebrations, one that I am sure you have heard of.

The site is called The New Times Square, and is a reflection of how this time-honored section of New York City is trying to change its image. Known as the Crossroads of the World, it is the heart of the world’s most dynamic city, where commerce meets the performing arts, a magnet for both business and tourism. Here you can learn how businesses are trying to make it cleaner, safer, and more exciting place to visit when you come to the Big Apple.

But today is New Year’s Eve, and you can watch, live over the net, the dropping of the ball that celebrates the beginning of 1999. You can also go to a special webcam network that features seven different cameras. This is an exciting place to be tonight, for cyber visitors anyway. Have fun, and don’t stay up too late.
